You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, Say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."

" When he was at the table with them, he took the bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him,..." Luke 24:30-31

WOW- Women of Worship

The Women of the Congregational Church sponsor quarterly luncheons for the women of our community. Each luncheon has a special speaker or provides women of all ages time to fellowship and share with one another. The WOW program also has several reading/discussion/service/ fellowship circles (Lydia Circle and the Reading Circle) which meet monthly. Special holiday programs, such as the yearly caroling/hayride/dinner program that mark the start of Advent, provides a wonderful pairing of service fun and fellowship for all ages in the Thermal Belt Region.

Men’s Group

Newly formed and growing, our Men’s Fellowship group has put together the holiday favorite: Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner. This tradition comes from a time when Lent was celebrated more intently.Lent was a time of simplicity and penance, Sweets, fats and rich foods were laid aside for the forty days of lent. The pancake dinner tradition was a chance to get rid of things like eggs and mark the night before Ash Wednesday as the start of a time of fasting, thought and meditation. Shrove Tuesday is a fun and festive time for the entire church, the dinner is prepared and served by the men of our church community. The dinner has been offered on a donation basis and has provided funds for outreach projects.

Super Sunday

Super Sunday offers multi-generational, monthly outings that are funded by an annual donation. These usually include lunch and a short trip to regional points of interest for all ages: ice skating , roller skating, WNC Nature Center, Festi-fall Living History Weekend, Coeburn Gem and Mineral Museum, Pearson’s Falls, corn mazes, zoos, kite flying, hikes and picnics, kickball games, movies, swimming and many more. Offered the last Sunday of each month during the school year, Super Sundays are a great way for new families to be introduced to the members of the church.

Couples and Companions

“Couples and Companions” plan periodic trips with members of the church and their friends. Trips to plays, lectures art showings, sports games and many more are offered to the congregation.

Fun and Learning Night

Meeting the third Wednesday of each month during the school year September-May, Fun & Learning Nights explore the varied and diverse interests of our church family and the Thermal Belt community. Speakers share passions for arts, travel, life skills, health and many other topics. These classes invite us to look for Christ in all aspects of our lives. They encourage people to share common interest. Each Fun & Learning Night is preceded by a home-made soup supper offered by the Hands of Change Youth group for donations to their mission and activity fund.

Food & Fellowship

Food & Fellowship is a monthly meal that offers fellowship outside the church and opportunities to meet and get to know one another in the homes of host members. Host members are responsible for arranging the meal and the inviting guest from the church. Groups interchange guests and the meals are at different homes each month.

We love to break bread with each other and there are lots of opportunities throughout the church year: The Christian Education Pancake Breakfast, Homecoming Potluck, Annual Meeting Luncheon, Church Picnic, and various fundraising meals throughout the year.

Coffee Hour

A time of Fellowship each week following the 10:30 am worship Service. Coffee and punch and at time sweet treats are served.
